Introduction

The aim of this award is to highlight the importance of striving for excellence in one's vocation and to encourage and emphasise the importance of vocational training.

Participation in this project is not costly to your Club.

  • It is not necessary for a Club to have a training facility in their area. Every Club area has a business that employs apprentices or trainees, eg, hairdressers, plumbers, administration staff, etc.
  • The project is open to apprentices or trainees who live, work or attend college classes in your Club's area.
  • Clubs running Apprentice/Trainee of the Year Awards should plan to enter their winner in the District Award.
  • Note, if your nominees do not meet any of the above criteria, please discuss with the District Chairman.

Timetable

October is Vocational Service Month so it  would be an ideal time to conduct the presentation of your Club's awards. It also appears to fit in well with training providers' schedules. However many Clubs run this program at other times of the year.

Whichever time you choose, bear in mind the closing date for the District Apprentice/Trainee of the Year Awards is 1 December. The District Award will be presented at the District Conference.

  • Entry forms and information should be sent out 4-6 weeks before your Awards Night.
  • Entries should close 2 weeks before Awards Night to allow time for assessment and interviews.
  • Interviews should take place within a week of the closing date. All entrants should be advised within two days of interview.
