Wooow!!!! What a start to the year! 17 spectacular Changeovers with one more to go! All of them were unique with each Club celebrating a great year of Rotary in their own way. From Blackheath in the mountains to Upper Northern Beaches by the sea, Bette and I were made very welcome. We thank you all.
Results are not available yet but watch this space! The D9685 Clubs grants and giving performance during last year will be impressive. With the assistance of both District Grants and Global Grants, our Clubs really have Served Humanity in a BIG way. I am hopeful that all Clubs will apply for a grant in 2016-17 to assist their projects. As I am sure you know, the donations to our Foundation come back to us. Please put the Foundation First when you consider your good causes.
We are counting down to the day that we can announce a Polio Free World. When the day comes there may be many people claiming this success. But please remember, Rotary started the crusade. Rotary's partners in the success are the World Health Organization (WHO), US Centre for Disease Control (CDC) and the United Nations (UNICEF). Collectively these partners are known as the Polio Eradication Initiative and have been generously supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and other governments. Be Proud Rotary!....as the only service organization driving this effort and, with courage over more than 30 years, we have stayed the course right through to success. We will celebrate the day when it comes.
Please look out for the DG Official Visit to your Zone. These meetings are being arranged by the Assistant Governors and all Rotarians, Partners and even Non-Rotarians are welcome. If you cannot get along to the meeting in your Zone, please book in at another Zone meeting. It's a bit like a Make Up Meeting and an opportunity to share an evening with other Rotarians.
There will be District Folks, including me, speaking with you about what is happening in the Rotary World. There will be FUN and some entertainment. Bette and I look forward to saying G'day to you on the night.
August has been nominated as Membership month. How about inviting a friend along to Rotary in August? Do not ask them because you want them to become a Member. Just ask them because you want to share an enjoyable evening with them.....And, of course, you will buy them dinner and maybe a drink! Lets see what happens.
Next week, I am out of Changeover Land and then start some Club visits. If your Club has not invited me to come to visit, please consider. I am available to cook snags, kiss babies, speak during dinner and anything that I can do to assist....but I do not do jokes....(sorry about that!)
Enjoy Rotary!
