ROTARY'S VISION STATEMENT:

Rotarians Are People of Action
On Saturday 26th November 2023, one of the walks against domestic and family violence was held at Penrith at the Tench Reserve.
Rotarians were joined by the Police and numerous community groups to reinforce this campaign.
District Governor Christine Owen and AG's Michele Ellery and Paul Rogers were accompanied by Rotarians from Rotary Clubs from the Blue Mountains, Nepean and Hawkesbury areas.
It was an amzing dedication to the fight against violence with the weather cooperating to provide an outstanding day to undertake
this walk. This was one of a series of events taking place during the 16 days of activism against domestic and family violence.

STOP the violence, END the silence
Join us to "Say NO to domestic and family violence and YES to respectful relationships."

Rotarians across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands have joined together to spread awareness, provide assistance, and offer resources to combat family and domestic violence. By working together, we can make a significant difference in reducing this pervasive issue, across our District, from Sydney Harbour to the top end of the Central Coast and west to the Blue Mountains. We share the common goal of supporting individuals who have experienced abuse and violence within their homes.

What you and your club can do!

By participating in this campaign you can help raise awareness and demonstrate your commitment to this cause and our shared values.

Each Rotary Club can determine its own project or fundraising activity.

To assist your preparation for this District wide campaign, below are several links to acquaint you with various tools to support your initiatives.

This month's theme is Water, Sanitation and Hygeine

Clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education are basic necessities for a healthy environment and a productive life.

When people have access to clean water and sanitation, waterborne diseases decrease, children stay healthier and attend school more regularly, and mothers can spend less time carrying water and more time helping their families.

HOW ROTARY MAKES HELP HAPPEN

Through water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programs, Rotary’s people of action mobilize resources, form partnerships, and invest in infrastructure and training that yield long-term change.

On Friday, 3rd November, the award of the Rotary NSW Police Officer of the Year 2023 was presented at a ceremony held at the Hyatt Regency Sydney. A hugely successful event organised by Joint Chairs Trina Phillips (District 9685), and John Given (District 9675). Over 400 people attended the awards ceremony and entertainment was provided by NSW Police Band. The successful Rotary NSW Police officer of the Year 2023 awardee is Det Insp Hassan El-Khansa.

Any profits from this event were donated to The Rotary Foundation and NSW Police Legacy (equal share).  $900 was also raised for the Rotary “Say No to Domestic Violence”  campaign by the sale of a Rotary Police Awards cake. The event is hosted by the Rotary Club of Macquarie Park and Rotary Club of Sydney.
