Meet the new Rotary International President, Holger Knaack
Click on the photo below to find out more information about Holger.
Hello Rotarians of D9685,
THANK YOU, for your support of Our Foundation over the past 12 months. Despite the need to support many good causes like bushfires, drought, struggling farmers, COVID-19 emergency you have continued to find some means to support the good work of the Rotary Foundation. Please continue to find a way to be generous while Rotary Opens Opportunities in 2020/21.
There were 8 generous Clubs who contributed AUD5000 or more to the Annual Fund. They were the Rotary Clubs of Brookvale, Chatswood Roseville, Crows Nest, Hornsby District, Lane Cove, North Sydney, Upper Northern Beaches and Turramurra.
There were 2 generous Clubs who contributed AUD5000 or more to END POLIO NOW. They were the Rotary Clubs of North Sydney and Turramurra. The Rotary Clubs of Beecroft and Lower Blue Mountains gain a honourable mention as good supporters of both categories. Thank you
In 2019/20 Rotarians around the world contributed USD50 Million to End Polio….but only just!!!
It was close but this ensured that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation honored their pledge to match with USD100million meaning that END POLIO NOW received USD150million to continue the fight. Since January 81 new cases of polio have been reported, with 55 in Pakistan and 21 in Afghanistan, so we are not there yet. As soon as COVID-19 allows 200 million doses of a new vaccine will be released. This will control the spread of the vaccine-derived poliovirus. Please include some help for End Polio in your thinking and planning this year.
The answer is very active, despite COVID-19 constraints. Our Clubs just got on with doing what Rotarians do, helping people. 38 Clubs received District Grants and 16 Clubs received Global Grants to assist their projects. This included 8 COVID-19 projects with 3 District Grants and 5 Global Grants.
In total, Our Foundation provided USD358,972 of support for these projects. Well Done to Our Clubs and Well Done to all Rotarians because it is your Giving which enables the Granting.
Here are some photos of just some Club projects at work

Please think about inviting one of our Global Scholars to speak to your meeting about their activities and ambitions. They have a compelling story to share and they can ZOOM in without much fuss.
SARMAD AKKACH is our most recent scholar who is an eye surgery seeking to help indigenous eye health and MARSHALL DUNN is a past scholar working in mental health and wellbeing. Both are keen to speak with Rotary Clubs and PDG Pam Pritchard can connect you.
Stay safe, keep your distance and wash your hands

If you travel, own an RV or a motor home then take a look at
the Rotary Nomads club. Nomads meet all over Australia and devote their time to a wide range of public service activity supporting communities, raising funds and pursuing a wide range of interests with fellow travellers. It could be delivering meals on wheels, assisting at a festival, or taking part in the Henley on Todd regatta. And much much  more. We meet Wayne Kemmis who explains who they are, where they go,
what they do and the great fellowship that Rotary Nomads enjoy.

The Learning and Development Team are working on getting the learning and development materials  from the 2020 training programs together and uploaded, but have had a delay due to a recent let down. A number of inquiries about where the uploads can be found have been coming in - and while we are working on this, due to aforementioned issues, it is going to take a little longer.
