Rotarians across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands have joined together to spread awareness, provide assistance and offer resources to combat family and domestic violence. By working together, we can make a significant difference in reducing this pervasive issue, across our District, from Sydney Harbour to the top end of the Central Coast and west to the Blue Mountains. We share the common goal of supporting individuals who have experienced abuse and violence within their homes. Rotary Clubs are creating their own projects and events to support the campaign.

Clubs from across Rotary District 9685 joined in United Nations 16 Days of Activism events.

Hundreds of Rotarians took part in the walks at Ku-ring-gai, Penrith, Riverstone, Castle Hill, Hornsby, Manly, Central Coast, Parramatta and other areas.

For most of them, Rotarians joined with existing activities run by local councils and organisations working in the domestic violence space.

Rotary Districts in NSW have a partnership with NSW Police which encourages people to Step Out, Speak Out and Walk Against Domestic Violence with their family, friends and workmates.

This partnership highlights the dedication both organisations have towards raising awareness and getting the message out to the community that we all have a vital role to play in stopping domestic and family violence. It was significant that Rotary and NSW Police walked side by side, alongside other community groups and students.

Representatives from local councils, community groups and Rotarians spoke at the walks.

Rotary clubs continue to support those affected by domestic and family violence while educating the community about respectful relationships.
