Christine’s Rotary vocation is Adult Education. A passionate educator, she has taught in NSW & ACT education systems & lectured at University of Canberra. She brings this passion for education to Rotary & was Director Training in 2017-18. She has facilitated with Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) for 5 years & 2020 became RLI Convenor. During 2020 RLI Online was introduced to ensure leadership development in D9685 continued.

In her third year as Assistant Governor Lower Central Coast, she has learned about clubs, the diverse projects undertaken & is amazed by the energy & enthusiasm Rotarians exhibit to ‘do good in the world’. Christine’s understanding of clubs is further enhanced by her role as part of the District’s Visioning Team.

Youth Exchange has benefited from Christine’s expertise, knowledge of schools & organisation capabilities. A 3 year member of D9685’s Youth Exchange Committee as Central Coast YE Coordinator, she has supported students in the lead-up to, during & post-exchange. Her commitment to youth is unstinting.

A proud Rotarian, she comes with excellent Rotary credentials – the daughter of Jim & Beryl Kirkness (both deceased) – her father, Jim, a much loved & active member of RC Gosford for over 50 years & mum, Beryl, a solid supporter & Inner Wheel member. Both role modelled their love of community service. Christine is the second of 4 children. She is proud to have two sons & one grandson.

Christine was Australian President of the Australian Joint Council of Professional Teaching Associations (AJCPTA), CEO of the Australian National Schools Network (ANSN) & Quality Assurance & Continuing Professional Development Coordinator for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) across NSW & ACT. As a public servant she designed, developed & delivered training in NSW Government & as Certified Facilitator for Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, delivered the course across NSW.

Christine is Past President of the Rotary Club of Kincumber where she has contributed significantly through roles – Secretary, Treasurer, Director Membership, Youth Chair & Program Coordinator. She joined Rotary to give back & is committed to making the world a better place for all.
