November has been a powerful month of connection, service, and Rotary pride across District 9685. I am deeply grateful for the extraordinary commitment shown by our clubs, volunteers, partners, and community members who continue to embody Rotary’s values in everything they do.

This month, we stood together to champion safety, respect, and community wellbeing with the national launch of Rotary Says No to Domestic and Family Violence in Canberra, followed by a series of district-wide events marking the 16 Days of Activism. I was honoured to participate in the NSW Police Officer of the Year Awards, the POOTY ceremonies, and several domestic violence awareness walks and activations — shining a light on Rotary’s leadership in prevention and advocacy.

My District Governor's visits reinforced what I love most about our district: the passion, creativity, and compassion that our clubs bring to their communities. From Penrith Rotary’s 80th birthday (chartered in 1946), Turramurra Rotary Club's 57th birthday (chartered in 1968), Wahroonga Rotary Club's 50th birthday celebration, to the vibrant markets at North Rocks, from RLI training to our District Team Workshop for 2026/27, the spirit of collaboration continues to flourish. Thank you to everyone who attended, contributed ideas, and helped shape our shared vision for the years ahead.

Aus RESCA National event. They are the NSW, ACT and Victoria Rotary Emergency Services Community Awards. It was held at the ACT Emergency Services Agency at Canberra Airport.

The President's and AGM meeting was held on the 22nd of November. Thank you to all the Presidents and club leaders who attended. It was undoubtedly a busy morning. I presented on the day about the updates and progress of the Regionalisation Pilot, and all Rotarians would have received an update recording via email.

A particularly heartwarming highlight was joining the Rotary Qantas Pathfinders Joey Joy Flight, proudly supported by the Rotary Club of Turramurra. Seeing the pure joy on the faces of children facing significant challenges — and sharing that joy alongside extraordinary Rotarians — was a moment I’ll carry with me for a long time.

Across the month, I also had the privilege of celebrating milestones, supporting youth leadership at RYLA Oceania, participating in strategy discussions, and strengthening district partnerships. Your energy and commitment continue to inspire me every day.

Thank you for your dedication to service, your generosity, and your unwavering commitment to creating positive change. Together, we are building a stronger, safer, and more connected District 9685, and I am immensely proud to serve alongside each of you.

Yours in Rotary,

District Governor Michele Ellery
