District Governor Update - April 2026
Dear Rotarians, Rotaractors and friends,
March has been an incredibly active and inspiring month across our district. It has been wonderful to see the energy, leadership and commitment of our members as we continue working together to strengthen Rotary and increase our impact in the community.
Leadership, Training and District Engagement
The month began with a Zoom G-Train Engagement session (1 March) focusing on the Rotary Community Leader (RCL) nomination and election process, followed by a discussion on onboarding and working effectively with Rotary clubs. Thank you to everyone who participated in this important conversation about strengthening our leadership pathways.
I also had the privilege of attending the Zone 8 Foundation Seminar in Parramatta (28 February – 1 March). The seminar reinforced the extraordinary impact of The Rotary Foundation and highlighted how our giving transforms lives locally and globally.
Recognising Service and Excellence
March saw the opening of nominations for two important recognitions:
Excellence in Service to Humanity Awards – nominations opened 1 March
RESCA Awards – nominations opened 2 March
I encourage clubs to recognise the remarkable work happening within their communities by submitting nominations. Celebrating service is an important part of Rotary culture.
Club Visits and Engagement
It continues to be a privilege to visit clubs and connect with members:
2 March – Visit to Greater Hills Rotary Club, where I was pleased to be joined by RCL Robert Erskine.
18 March – Social Impact Rotary Club
Thank you to each club for your warm welcome and for the inspiring work you are doing.
Learning and Leadership Development
Training and leadership development remain central to Rotary’s success:
7 March – Presidents-Elect Learning and Development (PELD)
15 March – Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) Graduation
15 March – District Governors-Elect meeting
Congratulations to all members who completed the RLI program. Investing in leadership development strengthens the future of Rotary
Celebrating International Women’s Day
One of the highlights of the month was our International Women’s Day event on 8 March. The Apron Project fundraiser for Domestic Violence bursaries was a tremendous success, raising $10,000. Planned and organised by Wahroonga President Sallianne McClelland. Sumptuous high tea food and even a chocolate fountain! Entertained by the talented performing artists, Lyhra.
This initiative demonstrates Rotary at its best: community collaboration, creativity, and a commitment to supporting those in need.

Rotaract in Action
We also celebrated World Rotaract Week on 10 March, recognising the enthusiasm, innovation and leadership of our Rotaractors. Their contribution to Rotary’s future is invaluable.
Preparing for the Future
Planning is well underway for major district events:
19–22 March – Combined Districts 9660 & 9685 Conference in Newcastle
These events provide opportunities for collaboration, learning and celebration across our Rotary family.
