Rotary Says NO to Domestic and Family Violence
Today (5 Nov), I had the honour of being invited to Parliament House, Canberra, to represent Rotary District 9685, comprising over 1,350 Rotarians.
Robbie and Dave Harmon were invited by the Assistant Minister for Domestic and Family Violence, the Hon. Ged Kearney, to officially launch the 2025 national campaign – Rotary Says No to Domestic and Family Violence.

It was terrific to have Rotary International Director Jennifer Scott welcome more than 40 Rotarians from across Australia, alongside our valued campaign partners. Many of my fellow District Governors and Governors Elect were in attendance, representing their Districts, including Springwood Honorary member, Susan Templeman, MP Member for Macquarie and a great D9685 supporter..

We were joined by representatives from:
NSW Police – Superintendent Danielle Emerton and Superintendent Simon Glasser
NAPCAN – CEO Leesa Waters
Domestic & Family Violence Prevention Council of QLD – Co-Chairs Vanessa Fowler and former QLD Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson

A highlight was hearing from Peter Howe, Principal of Ballina Coast High School, who shared how the Purple Friday initiative has made a real difference in student behaviour and respect culture.
A powerful and inspiring launch — and the campaign is already spreading rapidly across the country!
