Global Grant: Thung Hua Chang Hospital Neonatal Equipment
When distance delays neonatal care, Communities suffer in silence
In the remote mountainous district of Thung Hua Chang in Northern Thailand, over 20,000 people, many from vulnerable hill tribe communities, rely on a small

Today, Rotary Clubs of District 9685 have an opportunity to change that.
Together, the Rotary Club of Berowra, partnering with Rotary Club of Lamphun in Thailand, is leading a Rotary Foundation Global Grant to equip Thung Hua Chang Rural Hospital with:
- A diagnostic ultrasound system
- Home-use oxygen concentrators for critically ill respiratory patients
- A neonatal pulse oximeter for newborns and infants
These are not luxuries. They are essential tools that will help doctors diagnose trauma faster, manage sepsis more effectively, support patients suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), during hazardous PM2.5 haze seasons, and protect vulnerable newborns and infants.
The hospital currently serves approximately 200 patients daily with only four doctors and around 40 nurses. Patients requiring major treatment often travel 90–95 km to
larger hospitals, a journey many families struggle to make.

We now invite clubs to partner with the Rotary Club of Berowra to help bring this project to life.
Thank you to the Rotary D9685 Clubs of Berowra and Warringah, D3300 Port Klang (Malaysia) for their financial commitments, together with contributions from personal donors, we are on our way to raising the $10,000 USD needed to fund the Global Grant.
We ask Clubs in District 9685, at this generous time of the Rotary Year to consider donating a relatively modest contribution ($250-$1000 USD), to help deliver equipment that will directly improve emergency care, respiratory treatment, maternal health, and patient survival in one of Thailand’s underserved Hill-tribe communities.
Together, we can ensure that geography does not determine who receives quality healthcare or who survives.
