We pause to remember and honour the Rotarians we have lost, celebrating their service, friendship and the lasting difference they made in their communities and through Rotary.

Vale PDG PP PHF Geoffrey Grenfell OAM

PDG Geoff Grenfell OAM passed away peacefully on 25 August in Gosford, surrounded by his wife Margaret and loving family. A respected architect, Geoff designed many notable buildings and landmarks throughout the Gosford region.

Geoff devoted much of his life to community service, particularly through Rotary. He served as District Governor of District 9680 and President of the Rotary Club of Gosford and was recognised as a Paul Harris Fellow five times. He also made significant contributions to the Scouting movement and received the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2016.

Remembered for his warmth, quiet humour, generosity and dedication to others, Geoff’s greatest joy was his family, Holy Trinity Church in Terrigal, and his life was celebrated on Friday, 4 September.

Vale Gregory Ronald “Rocket” Lyons

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Greg 'Rocket' Lyons, aged 68, Late of Blackheath, following a courageous battle.

Rocket was a much-loved husband, brother, uncle and a great mate to many.

He took up painting whilst recovering from a broken back after falling off his ladder at work , we remember the night he came to Rotary to show us a selection of his artwork. It was very impressive. Another of Greg’s ventures was hiring himself out as a DJ – he loved music! He was also an avid panthers fan.

Greg ran his own building business and was a well-known Blackheath local. He was extremely hard-working and we all looked forward to the day he would retire so that he could become more involved with the club. He had so many ideas and always wanted to help people, and his life was celebrated on Wednesday, 30 September.
