CONGRATULATIONS to all other Rotarians involved especially Past RID and Past Trustees Mike Webb as the RI Representative with Vietnam; Mr David Peterson of RI Club and District Support, Rotary Foundation Trustee Ken Schuppert and Past RI Presidents Bill Boyd, Ray Klinginsmith and Gary Huang. President Holger Knaack and his team have finally completed this challenging task of getting Rotary back to Vietnam.
PDG Danny Low OAM of Mosman has worked tirelessly for over 30 years to have Vietnam reintroduced into the world of Rotary. Danny has made over 60 self-funded trips to Vietnam to not only implement humanitarian projects, but also to meet with, and lobby, the Vietnamese Government to allow Rotary to operate in Vietnam. He organised a GSE style visit of Vietnamese professionals to Sydney as part of his ground work in demonstrating what Rotary could bring to the Vietnamese people.

This is indeed a historic moment as the previous 7 (seven) Rotary Clubs have been terminated in 1975 after the end of Vietnam Wars. So, it had been some 46 years absence from Vietnam. For your information, Rotary Club of Mosman, NSW Australia is the first Rotary Club which has been approved to hold a PACCOM PERMIT UNDER DECREE 88 in 1975 which was later converted to a CERTIFICATE OF OPERATION under Decree88/2012. This allows the Rotary Club of Mosman to operate as a Foreign Non-Government Organization (NGO) in Vietnam like many of the over 700 NGOs operating there.
PDG Danny Low has also been involved in Rotary extension activities working closely with RI Evanston IL USA. He has organized the visit of three 3 RI World President Bill Boyd; Ray Klinginsmith and lastly Gary CK Huang to Vietnam regarding negotiations to seek the approval to start Rotary Clubs in Vietnam.
Rotary Club of Mosman has completed many Rotary Projects since 1995 over the last 26 years.
Today they are still doing various Rotary Projects including donation of new Rotary wheelchairs via shipment of 20 feet FCL/FCL container to Vietnam and a range of other ongoing project such as Donation of Hearing Aids to Vietnamese people with impaired hearing and visiting medical missions to major hospitals in Vietnam.
PDG Danny Low is currently organizing a shipment of 250,000 facemasks via a 20 feet FCL/FCL container to ASVHO from Sydney Australia to Port Hai Phong Vietnam. The Rotary Club of Mosman, with Danny, are sponsors for the payment of costs shipping freight and other logistics. The consignees will receive the donation on a CIF basis at Port of final destination in Vietnam. The consignees will be responsible for taking delivery on arrival of shipment, all costs or charges in Vietnam including storage, transport and distribution costs for the donated face masks.
